Antarctica is accessible only between November to March during the austral summer season, during which sea ice melts enough to allow passage. Most cruises leave from Ushuaia in Argentina or Punta Arenas in Chile, crossing the Drake Passage to arrive in the Antarctic Peninsula in about 2 days.
Depart for Buenos Aires, the capital city of Argentina.
Upon arrival in Buenos Aires, you will be transferred to the hotel.
Flight from Buenos Aires to Ushuaia – the southernmost city in the world.
With the sea to the south and mountains to the north, Ushuaia is a spectacular departure point for your Antarctic cruise.
In the late afternoon, embark your vessel “Ocean Adventurer” and sail down the historic Beagle Channel. This famous channel transects the Tierra del Fuego archipelago in the extreme south of South America. Feel the excitement as the next time you see land, you are already in Antarctica, world’s most southern and remote continent!
The Drake Passage is very unpredictable, so be prepared for potentially rough waters!
On the ship, you will be provided with safety briefings and insights into what excitement lies ahead!
Here, you will really begin your Antarctic expedition! Antarctica is truly amazing because unlike any other, every time you come here, you will witness something new or unexpected, making each and every trip unique!
Everyday, you will take Zodiac Excursions from the ship to explore nearby bays, channels and landing sites. With wildlife always at the forefront of our minds, you will visit penguin rookeries, scout for whales and a number of seal species, including the cunning leopard seal.
The mountains will enchant you as you ascend snowy pathways to vantage points offering you 360° views of your surroundings. One example is Orne Harbour, which gives you the opportunity to visit a chinstrap penguin colony high up on a ridge. Here you’ll have the choice between going for a mountain hike or spending time sitting quietly on a pebbled beach to enjoy the antics of curious penguins. And if you are feeling super adventurous, participating in the Polar Plunge swim is about as crazy as it gets!
Amidst the serene silence of Antarctica, noisy interludes now become indelible memories, such as penguins squabbling over prized pebbles, or the boom and crack of a calving glacier in Neko Harbour.
Every day will be different, having been carefully crafted by your Expedition Team so as to entertain and educate you about this wonderful part of the world.
Savour some final opportunities to enjoy the crisp Antarctica air on your journey back across the Drake Passage. Bask on the deck seabirds-watching, scout for whales or simply just sit back and relax! You will also get to enjoy some few final presentations by the Expedition Team.
You will arrive in Ushuaia in the morning. Then proceed to catch a flight back to Buenos Aires for an overnight stay.
Enjoy your dinner in the famous Carlos Gardel show house and experience the tango show in the capital where tango dance was born.
Enjoy day at leisure exploring the lovely city of Buenos Aires, until your transfer to the airport for flight home.
Home sweet home.
