Patagonia Tour

Experience the Patagonia Tour in a once in a lifetime adventure!

ABOUT THIS TRIP

From RM21888 per pax (Twin sharing)

Difficulty: Easy

Patagonia is situated at the southern tip of South America, a region shared by both Argentina and Chile which is made up the Andes mountains. From snow capped Andes Mountains to glaciers, lagoons, wetland, lakes, ice fields, valleys and fjords, Patagonia is indeed a paradise for travelers. Each year, Patagonia draws thousands of visitors to excursions to the amazing granite towers of Torres Del Paine, an ice hike on the magnificent Perito Moreno Glacier, a trek up the picturesque Fitz Roy Mountains or even for the Magellanic Penguins watching.

The best time to visit Patagonia is between November and March. The extreme weather and atmospheric conditions makes Patagonia almost impossible to visit during other periods of time.

Being so far south and remote, our Patagonia tour package is very popular among travellers looking for some adventure to an exotic destination. One of our best selling itinerary, this tour package is one that you should not miss! Our packages are fully customisable according to your needs and requirement. Our experienced team is able to advise and recommend itineraries that suits your vacation plans best. Come explore Patagonia and experience the trip of a lifetime with our Patagonia tour package, which you will definitely won’t regret!

By always having Fitz Roy at the front, the path approaches Chorrillo River which goes upstream up to almost its beginning. The path crosses Chorrillo River in a wooded area north-westwards until Poincenot camp site.

From here on, the track is about 400m upwards to De los Tres Lagoon. The track finishes in an old glacier moraine edge with an extraordinary view of the lake andDe los Tres Glacier. The Rios de Hielo (Ice Rivers) excursion begins at Punta Bandera Port, 55km away from El Calafate. During the tour along the Northern Branch of Argentino Lake, you may admire the fascinating contrast among the different shades of blue and white of the glaciers, apart from having the opportunity of living an unforgettable experience!

The first glacier you will see during the Rios de Hielo excursion is Upsala Glacier, which is —due to its area of 595km² and altitude of 60-80m — the largest glacier in Argentino Lake. Once at Onelli Bay, the tour continues with a walk through the woods up to Onelli Lake, which is decorated with the ice floes calved from Onelli, Agassi and Bolado Glaciers (42km², 31km² and 16km², respectively). Then, visitors get on board again and sail up to Spegazzini Glacier (66km²), the highest glacier in Los Glaciares National Park. After disembarking at Punta Bandera Port, you are driven back to El Calafate.

The ascension to the legendary Torres del Paine will be initiated by walking and ascending the mountains, once we reach the forest, we will be close to the Torres del Paine base.

When we arrive at the base, a small lagoon will show us the reflection of the magnificent Torres del Paine’s granite massif. This is one of the world’s most known places of Patagonia, especially to get an unforgettable picture from this National Park.

DAY 9

Torres Del Paine / Puerto Natales

DAY 10

Puerto Natales

*Cruise Balmaceda / Serrano Glacier (8 hours)

The excursion begins in Puerto Natales. During the trip, you will have the chance to observe the typical flora and fauna (sea lions, cormorants, Quetru ducks, condors, sea gulls) of the Fjords. The ship sails along the coastline as it approaches the sea lion colony’s rocky nesting place. We will first pass by Guanaco Island, whose name derives from the guanaco, a camelid animal native to South America. Guanacos live wild in Patagonia, thus the name of the island.

We will pass through the Última Esperanza Sound (Sound of Last Hope). Originally inhabited by the Kawésqar tribe or Alacaluf and the Aoniken or Tehuelche, it was sailed in 1557 by Juan Ladrilleros, a sailor who was looking for the Straits of Magellan. It was the last hope of that bygone sailor to find his way to the Straits of Magellan. If he didn’t find the crossing, leaving from this Sound, he would never find it.

Around noon we will arrive at Bernardo O´Higgins National Park, the largest National Park in the country with a total surface area of 8,462 acres and home to the 6,675-foot-high Mt. Balmaceda and its glacier. Immense chunks of ice often break off the Glacier and crash into the fjord waters. We continue to view the Serrano Glacier which is located on the northern side of the mountain, after which we will arrive on land next to a small lagoon formed by the thawing and loosening of the icebergs from the glacial mass.

Here we will leave the ship, walking from the pier through a spectacular native forest by the river’s edge and about half a mile before we arrive at the foot of Serrano Glacier.

After enjoying the scenery, we will sail back to Puerto Natales, where you will be transferred back to your hotel.

DAY 11

Puerto Natales / Punta Arenas

Transfer to Puerto Natales by coach (shared service).

DAY 12

Punta Arenas

*Penguin Colony Seno Otway (4 hours)

The Penguin colony at Seno Otway is one of two colonies near Punta Arenas.

Every year during the Patagonian summer months, there are more than 10,000 Magelleanic Penguins breeding at this colony at Seno Otway. The colony spreads out over a fairly large area along the shore of Otway Sound. In the part of the colony which is open to visitors, you can usually see a few hundred penguins in total. The other parts are closed to the public for conservation. The penguins usually gather in small groups that are loosely spread out all over the place.
